We all agree !!!
May 19th 2010 13:35
Well it appears that the average liberal, conservative, democrat, and republican has finally found something that we all agree on at the same time. It appears that the average person, regardless of beliefs, has gotten sick and tired of the bureaucrat. You know who i am talking about. Those people that don't have real jobs. All they do is run for a political office for a living and many have never held a real job.....or at least not held one in a long time. It appears that 2010 will be known as the year of the challenger. All incumbents should be afraid, not matter if they are democrat or republican. I hope this may bring about some legislation on TERM LIMITS. The founding fathers envisioned that these "Washington jobs" were something that you did for a short time because you wanted to give something back, not because you wanted power and money. SEND ALL INCUMBENTS HOME.
Not only send life long politicians home, but support who you want to. Don't listen to what the national party, either democrat or republican, says. Vote your own morals and beliefs.
That is exactly what happened yesterday.
The first on the list was Arlen Specter.
Specter has been in the Senate since 1980. That is 30 years!!!! WAY TOO LONG. His recent attempt to keep his seat by switching parties shows that all he was concerned about was keeping his seat. He thought as a democrat he would be able to keep it. WRONG!!! He said it was because he was not agreeing with the Republican leadership. As far as I can tell the republican leadership has not changed their stance on anything major lately (still the same old crap) so that does not seem to be true. Either way he can pack his bags and go home.
The next to have problems was Arkansas Senator Blanche Lincoln could not win her primary. She now has to have a run off election with the other highest democrat in the primary, Bill Halter.
Incumbent Lincoln is described as a moderate southern democrat, while Halter is described as coming more from the left. I do not know what Halter stands for, but I like it that he is challenging an incumbent. Hopefully he will win because two Senate terms are enough for anyone!!
Finally, the republicans in Kentucky told the national Republican Party, and specifically Republican Mitch McConnell, who thought he had hand-picked the next Senator form that state. Instead, by double digits, the people said that they wanted Rand Paul. (In case you do not know he is the son of Ron Paul.)
Although there was no incumbent in Kentucky, the leaders of the National Party were told by the voters that they did not care who they wanted to be elected, the people were going to vote for who they wanted.
All in all I would say that these elections are good for the country. One of the main problems we have is that incumbents think they are safe and they don't care about the average voter. Voting them out sends a strong message. That is why I am a fan of term limits!!!! The longer a person is in an office, the less in touch they are with the real world and the more they are influenced by the political machine that is Washington!!!
TERM LIMITS!!!!!!
